Vung Vieng Fishing Village

Vung Vieng Floating Fishing Village is located in Bai Tu Long Bay, to the northeast of Halong Bay. Established in the 19th century, it was originally a mooring place for local fishermen, and a place for them to exchange goods. These days it is moving with the times and is earning a reputation for remaining authentic, community-minded and ecologically aware, despite families having been relocated to the nearby mainland. Those who visit Vung Vieng Fishing Village now are still able to get a glimpse into local life and an insight into the rich traditional cultures of the indigenous people, while enjoying the natural beauty of the area. Locals have set up displays such as workshops where you can learn to weave your own fishing nets and catch and prepare fish. There’s also an overnight touring option (Bai Tu Long Bay overnight cruise) which allows you to spend a night in Vung Vieng Fishing Village and get stuck into some night time squid fishing under the watchful supervision of the local experts.
