Titop Island

Located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage area of Halong Bay, Titop Island is regarded as one of the most perfect destinations in Halong Bay for swimming, kayaking, and climbing.

Titop (Titov) Island was named after the legendary Soviet astronaut Gherman Stepanovich Titov who accompanied President Ho Chi Minh on a visit there in 1962. It made such a strong impression on Titop that he returned 35 years later and left a message in the visitors book saying “My deepest thanks to destiny, which has allowed me to come back to this tiny island”.

Apart from the beautiful natural scenery, Titop Island also offers an attractive beach.  The sandbank is swept clean by passing tidal flow. The water is blue and clean all year round. For that reason, some cruises operators choose Titop Island as a stopover for their passengers to enjoy recreational activities.

If you’re feeling energetic, you may also enjoy a hike up the 420 steps to a pavilion at the summit for a panoramic view of Halong Bay.

This is a great place to visit as part of our Halong Bay 2-day cruise.
