Located within a small arc of the eastern mountain range of Bo Hon Island, you will find the legendary Drum Cave hidden away on the southeast shores of Halong Bay. Its name comes from the sound made by the cave whenever lightning strikes.
Drum Cave also holds archeological remains of the ancient Soi Nhu culture dating back to between 7,000 and 18,000 years ago.
Drum Cave’s legend is associated with nearby Virgin Cave (Trinh Nu Cave). The legend tells of two young star-crossed lovers who, unable to be re-united, turned to stone and can still be found within the caves.
Due to the cave’s beautiful stalactite formations, and the romantic legend of the cave, it is often chosen by Halong Bay cruise operators as a location for holding special dinners for guests.
