Dau Go Cave

Dau Go Cave (Wooden Stakes Cave) is the largest and most beautiful cave in Halong Bay. Dating back around 2 million years the cave is 27 metres above sea level, and covers around 5000 square metres in area. Magnificent stalactite and stalagmite structures appear as imaginative statues surrounded by mysteriously glowing light.

The name of the cave comes from the legend that Dau Go Cave was the place where wooden stakes were hidden before they were driven into the riverbed of Bach Dang River as a trap to destroy the ships of the invading Mongolians in the 13 th century.

On entering the cave you will discover a magnificent world of limestone formations which are the result of water seeping through the roof of the cave over millions of years. These masterpieces of Nature are waiting to welcome and impress you!
